Hotel Le Petit Village: A Charming Oasis in Kampala

If you are looking for a comfortable and elegant place to stay in the capital of Uganda, you might want to consider Hotel Le Petit Village, a boutique hotel that offers 12 cozy and stylish rooms. I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the tranquility and hospitality of this hotel. Here is my review of Hotel Le Petit Village.

Location and Facilities

The hotel is part of the Le Chateau complex, which includes a butcher shop, a Belgian restaurant, and a patisserie. It is located on Ggaba Road in Nsambya, a convenient area with many dining and shopping options. The hotel has a wooden door and a green sign that leads to a lovely garden with a small swimming pool. The pool is exclusive to hotel guests, which makes it more private and relaxing. The hotel also has free wifi, a projector screen for sports games, and a complimentary glass of bubbly in the evening.

Rooms and rates

The rooms are actually mini cottages with thatched roofs and wooden furniture. They are spacious and well-equipped, with en suite bathrooms, flat screen TVs, mini fridges, and terraces. The executive suites also have kitchenettes and the junior suites have bathtubs. The rooms are decorated in a safari chic style, with ethnic tapestries and lanterns. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the staff are very attentive and friendly.

The rates are not cheap, but reasonable for the quality and service. The cheapest rooms (the suite rooms) start at $179 (plus 18% taxes and $2) for single occupancy and the most expensive executive apartments are $220 for one person. The rates include breakfast in the Le Chateau restaurant, which serves delicious dishes like scrambled eggs and pancakes. The fridge is also stocked with free water, soda, and beer.

Food and drink

The hotel has the great advantage of being part of the Le Chateau complex, which offers some of the best food in Kampala. You can enjoy a variety of Belgian dishes like mussels and chips, sandwiches in crispy baguettes, and chocolate mousse cake. You can also order some pub food, like chips or shish kebabs, from the hotel bar. The food is fresh and tasty, and the portions are generous.

The hotel also has a good selection of drinks, from coffee and tea to wine and beer. You can enjoy your drink by the pool or on your terrace, or join the lively crowd at the bar. The hotel also offers a complimentary glass of bubbly in the evening, which is a nice touch.

Final thoughts

Hotel Le Petit Village is a charming and cosy place to stay in Kampala. It is not the most affordable option, but it is worth it for the quality and service. It is a place where you can relax, enjoy the food, and meet new people. It is open from 12:00 p.m. until late every day, and you can follow them on Facebook for updates on events and promotions. Hotel Le Petit Village is more than just a hotel; it is an oasis in the city.
