The township is bordered to the north by Kyaliwajjala, to the east by Bweyogerere, to the south by Kirinya, to the west by Banda, and to the northwest by Kyambogo and Naalya. About 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city, Kireka is located on the Kampala-Jinja Highway.

Overview

Kireka Trading Centre is located ten kilometres from the city centre along Jinja Road. The centre is located at the bottom of the 4,189-foot Kireka hill. The Seventh Day Adventist church's administrative centre was located on an inconspicuous hill called Kireka before the Kabaka (king) of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi built a castle atop the hill.
