Lake Mburo Accommodation
One of Uganda’s most spectacular and breathtaking wildlife parks is Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo, also known as the home of the zebra, is conveniently located close to the highway that connects the capital, Kampala, to south-western Uganda. Therefore, this makes it the perfect weekend getaway, as it is a few hours’ drive away from the city.

Location:
Lake Mburo National Park lies between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara in western Uganda. It is 228 kilometers from Kampala city, which is about a 4-hour drive.
There are two gateways into the park. There is the Nshara Gate, located 13 km from Lyantonde town. The second gate is at Nsanga, in the Nsanga trading centre, 27 km past Lyantonde.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority provides a range of budget and backpacker accommodations. Permanent tents are also available at Rwonyo Rest Camp, and there is a beautiful campsite by the lake shore.

Mihingo Lodge;
This is a renowned luxury lodge, sitting deep within the park. The lodge sits atop a hill, perched on a rocky kopje, and is set up with local materials to blend with the surrounding environment. Mihingo Lodge has an expansive swimming pool overlooking a drinking hole in close proximity where the animals come to drink, especially during sunny afternoons.The lodge also offers a number of activities, including a nature walk to the communities outside the park boundaries, where you can learn a lot about the Ankole culture and interact with the locals. Bush biking is another activity for the more adventurous. Mihingo Lodge also offers horseback riding with great guides, giving you a more thrilling adventure by viewing wildlife more closely on the back of a horse. Rwakobo Rock;
This is a mid-range facility located 1 kilometer from the Nshara gate of Lake Mburo National Park. The lodge has 8 cottages that can be arranged as single, double, or triple. There is also a family unit.Visitors staying at Rwakobo Rock can enjoy a number of activities, including biking, walking safaris, and night game drives. The staff lights up a campfire where visitors gather and enjoy their evening. There is also a watering hole near the restaurant where animals often come to drink and a hammock where you can unwind with incredible views of the expansive plains. A stay at Rwakobo Rock saves you entrance fees on your first night, as it is situated right outside the park.
Eagle’s Nest Lodge
For those looking for a real African experience on a budget, Eagle’s Nest Lodge is the perfect choice. The lodge is situated on a hill bordering Lake Mburo National Park and has one of the best views in Uganda. The tented camp is also known as Lake Mburo Camp. It's a tented camp offering luxury tented accommodation inside Lake Mburo National Park. It is located on the side of Rwamahungu hill (a hill of eagles), overlooking Lake Mburo and its surrounding eco-systems. It is a peaceful area with great views of the lake and surrounding country. Mantana Tented Camp is a small and intimate luxury camp that fits perfectly with the environment. It offers luxurious and spacious tents on wooden decks with their large bedrooms, en-suite facilities, and verandahs overlooking Lake Mburo and the valley, also complimented by a luxurious sitting room, bar, and dining area. There are resident zebra, warthogs, water buck, impala, buffalo, civet cats, and prolific bird life around the area and tents, making it an ideal place to relax with a cold drink after a hot and dusty afternoon within the park!
Arcadia Cottages (UWA concession) (Mid-range)
Arcadia Cottages is located 2 kilometers from Rwonyo Park headquarters and close to the lake. It is thus a great place to stay and explore the park on game drives, encounter hippos and crocodiles on a boat cruise, or get close and personal to nature on a guided nature walk or walking safari.
The lodge has eight self-contained cottages arranged around a central lodge building, where visitors can enjoy the tasty dishes in the restaurant or relax and take in the stunning view from the newly built raised deck. As the sun winds down, guests can unwind from an exciting day’s safari around the open fire, sipping on a cold drink from the bar while impala, warthog, and the occasional hippo graze the grass just yards away.
Lake Mburo Safari Lodge (semi-luxury)
Mburo Safari Lodge is a semi-luxury accommodation located right inside Lake Mburo National Park. The lodge offers cottages and a honeymoon house, all built on a wooden platform covered with a grass-thatched roof, perfectly blending with the natural environment. It offers luxury cottages, a honeymoon house, a family cottage, and a campground that is well located and equipped with flushing toilets, showers, and electricity. Visitors can opt to use their own tents or acquire good safari tents from the lodge. Campers can cook for themselves or eat in the restaurant. The campground is well marked, leveled, and well drained.
Rwonyo Rest Camp:
The camp is under the management of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and offers tents and bandas, along with camping at the Mazinga Camp site.
