overview

While numerous activities are taking place at the foot of this 4,312-foot peak, the summit is still uninhabited. The colonial administration originally intended for it to be a completely residential district, but today there are factories, schools, and churches, to name a few. One can see Entebbe, the whole of Kampala, and the surrounding area from the summit. One can actually watch planes take off and land at Entebbe Airport, which is about 30 kilometres to the south.

The only residence at the top of Mutundwe hill was built by the late president of Uganda, Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa, in 1986, and it can be clearly seen from the southern side of the hill. Many telecommunications and media firms in Uganda have erected masts on the summit due to its appropriateness. The Ugandan Army also constructed a military base at the top of the hill.

The well-trimmed lawns at the peak make for great picnics.
